Kids & Teens Counselling

Because big feelings don’t always come out in words.

Children and teens don’t always know how to say what’s going on. Sometimes it comes out as anger, tears, silence, outbursts, anxiety, school refusal or just a quiet sense that something’s not right.

At Sydney Counselling Space, I work with young people in a way that makes sense for them. That might mean chatting while drawing, playing a game, sitting on the floor or just slowly building trust over time. I also work closely with parents, because I believe that real change doesn’t just happen in the child, but around them.

Is this your child or teen?

You might be looking for support because your child:

  • Has big emotions they don’t know how to manage (or name).

  • Is anxious, withdrawn or overwhelmed by school or social life.

  • Is neurodivergent and struggling with feeling different, misunderstood or out of place.

  • Seems angry, defiant or shut down and you know something’s going on underneath.

  • Is navigating change- separation, grief, a move, a new diagnosis or starting high school.

  • Is asking big questions about identity, friendships or their place in the world.

  • Just needs a safe space to talk to someone who isn’t a parent or teacher.

Maybe you're a parent who’s unsure what’s ‘normal' and what needs more support. Either way, you don’t have to figure it out alone.

What You (and Your Child) Can Expect

  • A calm space that doesn’t feel like a medical office.

  • No pressure to talk straight away. We build trust first.

  • Sessions that feel natural. We might play, draw, chat or explore tools together.

  • Collaboration with you as the parent or carer, while also respecting your child’s privacy and autonomy.

  • A focus on strengths, not just problems. Your child is more than a diagnosis or behaviour.

  • Support that affirms neurodiversity, identity and the unique way your child moves through the world.

I believe kids and teens are doing the best they can with the tools they’ve got—and together, we can gently build more tools.
